It´s not just cars that need to be fast

Autoclaves play a crucial role in the racing industry, particulary in the production of high-performance composite materials. These pressurized vessels are used to cure composite materials, resulting in parts that are lighter, stronger, and more durable than those produced using traditional methods.

Accelerating the racing industry

"Autoclaves have revolutionized the production of composite materials in the motorsports industry, enabling faster and more precise manufacturing of high-performance components that make race cars faster, safer, and more agile."

The use of composites in racing can be traced back to the 1950s, when companies began to build bodies from glass-fibre reinforced plastic (GRP). In the 1960s, the first carbon fibre composites were developed and used for racing. 20 years later, with rapid developments in Formula 1, such as the first monocoques, which were not made of conventional aluminium but of carbon fibre, the 80s developed into the most exciting decades in racing history. The use of these materials for cars, led to significant improvements in weight, stiffness and safety. Right at the beginning of this new era, SCHOLZ established itself as a competent and reliable partner for this industry.

The use of composite materials has been increasing rapidly in the motorsports industry in recent years. Thanks to their outstanding properties such as low weight, high strength, and stiffness, they are ideal for building race cars. One of the key technologies in composite materials manufacturing is the autoclave technology. Autoclaves are special pressure vessels that operate at high temperatures and pressures to allow for the polymerization of composite materials. Maschinenbau SCHOLZ is a leading manufacturer of autoclaves and has a long history of producing autoclaves for the motorsports industry. In recent years, Maschinenbau SCHOLZ has made significant advances in autoclave technology development. Through the use of modern technologies and materials, SCHOLZ's autoclaves are now able to produce composite materials faster and more precisely than ever before. We believe that the use of composite materials in the motorsports industry will continue to increase in the future. The industry is always looking for new ways to improve the performance and safety of race cars, and composite materials are the key to achieving this. The technology is becoming increasingly advanced, and the industry is relying on composite materials to build faster and safer race cars. Maschinenbau SCHOLZ is a key autoclave manufacturer that contributes to shaping this future.

Precision matters.

In racing like Formula 1, small things, often milliseconds, decide between victory and defeat. A customer asked us to design a flexible autoclave to be used for a wide variety of composite components. The autoclave had to be reliable and able to handle processes for several components - especially important as parts change continuously due to the rapid developments in racing. That's why we developed a system that still delivers precise performance even in extreme cases: with individual computer control, a wide variety of temperature curves and pressure for the flexible and punctual production of a wide range of components. After personalized consultation and design, our team created a truly exciting autoclave. With a maximum operating temperature of 250°C and a maximum operating pressure of 10 bar, it is capable of producing composite materials in a wide range of applications. The design of the autoclave is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. The body is made of high-quality steel, while the internal fittings are made of stainless steel. The closure is actuated pneumatically, which enables fast and efficient handling of the unit. The heating of the unit is electric and ensures an even heating of the materials. The diameter of 1500mm and the loading length of 3300mm provide sufficient space for the production of large workpieces. The system is perfect for the production of composites such as glass fibre reinforced plastic (GRP), carbon fibre composites (CFRP) and other materials that require high temperatures. The precise temperature control and pressure range ensure that materials are treated under the right conditions, resulting in high quality and durability.

Precision, Performance, and Reliabilty at every turn - Accelerate your Race to Victory with the SCHOLZ Autoclave.
