180 t heavy transport to Asia

180 t in weight, 6 metres in diameter and over 30 metres long - in May, a giant autoclave travelled from our factory to its destination in China. "Even we only transport autoclaves of this size once a year at most.". says Maschinenbau Scholz.

About half a year of planning was invested in the transport of the giant autoclave - a total of 50 people were involved in the process. "For transports on this scale, we work with long-standing logistics partners," says Maschinenbau Scholz.

Using special equipment and high-performance hydraulic cylinders, the vessel was lifted onto a special vehicle at the Scholz plant in Coesfeld to be shipped to the Dortmund-Ems Canal with escort vehicles and police. A spectacle that, incidentally, the people of Coesfeld did not miss and watched the transport of the giant plant with their own eyes.

Route testing ensures safe transport
For the overland route of the autoclave, roads even had to be widened and signs and traffic lights temporarily removed. Graeber: "There is always a route check in advance with the transporter, who maps out the route from Coesfeld to Lüdinghausen." From there, depending on the destination, plants are shipped to Hamburg, Antwerp or Rotterdam for their worldwide destination.

Transporting autoclaves via heavy-duty transportation is always a challenge. Not only must the size and weight of the equipment be taken into account, but also the infrastructure of the route where the transportation takes place. This requires careful planning and coordination with local authorities. Additionally, the transporters must have specialized equipment and knowledge to safely and reliably transport such heavy loads.

During heavy-duty transports such as this autoclave transport, all possible risks and contingencies must also be considered, such as unforeseen obstacles or weather conditions. To minimize risks, there is usually a Plan B in place that will be implemented if problems arise.

Such heavy-duty transports are also an important indicator of the quality and reliability of the manufacturers of such equipment. Only a few companies have the necessary skills and resources to carry out such transports. As a leading manufacturer of autoclaves, Maschinenbau Scholz has the best qualified partners and experience to carry out such transports and safely and reliably bring their equipment to its destinations around the world.
