Innovation meets practice – A day full of inspiration
On October 9, 2025, the German Aerospace Center (DLR) opened its doors for this year's Science Day at the Center for Lightweight Production Technologies (ZLP) in Stade. Under the motto “Lightweight construction with a system: CFRP fuselage efficient and high-rate capable?!” everything was focused on innovative solutions for tomorrow's aircraft production.
As a manufacturer of composite autoclaves, we were privileged to be part of this exciting exchange between research and industry – together with partners such as Airbus, Fraunhofer IFAM, Broetje-Automation GmbH, SWMS, Composites United, DLR - Institut für Aerodynamik und Strömungstechnik and many other leading players in the industry.
The Science Day provided an impressive forum for discussing current research findings, new materials, and pioneering manufacturing technologies. The focus was particularly on optimizing lightweight CFRP structures, sustainable production processes, and digital methods for more efficient and resource-saving aircraft manufacturing.
Among other things, our colleagues gave a presentation on the latest findings on flow manipulation in a hot air system. They took the opportunity to provide insights into our current developments and highlight the role of modern pressure vessel and autoclave technologies in aviation production. After all, high-performance yet resource-efficient systems are the basis for processing new materials safely, reproducibly, and economically.

Exchange on equal terms
Following an engaging program of presentations, the panel discussion provided an opportunity to address open questions and discuss future prospects. The event concluded with a tour of the solar hall at ZLP Stade – an impressive example of how research and industry are working hand in hand on the future of aircraft construction.
We would like to thank the DLR team, all the speakers, and the participants for an inspiring day and many valuable discussions. Special thanks go to our employees on site, who represented Maschinenbau Scholz with great commitment and actively contributed to the exchange.

Focus on the future
Science Day 2025 has shown once again that the future of aviation is light, digital, and sustainable—and we at Maschinenbau Scholz are proud to contribute to this with our technology.
We are already looking forward to the next steps in research and development—and to many more encounters with partners who are shaping progress in lightweight construction together with us.
